I am pleasantly surprised by this local restaurant. Great seafood.
I have no idea where the other reviewers are getting these homespun dishes like whipped jello or tuna casserole, I only saw very upscale selections that were quite pricey but I will say worth the money.
I also love the building -- it looks like a garage on the outside but very charming inside. -

I wanted to like this place - I really did - it came recommended. Just passing through town, you don't get to give a place a second chance.
The people were very friendly and accomodating. Fresh bread at a bread bar is a successful innovation, and their bean soup, also unlimited, was real good.
It was the dinner that let me down. A kind of rubber steak of no known cut - vegetables, grilled on a grill that badly needed cleaning - OK the potatoes were all right.
Three stars. If I ever went back I'd stick with the soup. -

LOCATION: Were were staying at the Levi Deal Mansion B&B. It's a 0.8 mile walk one way, not bad and a great way to work other muscles after riding a bike all day on the GAP.
FOOD: I had the Virginia Ham meal and started with the bread bar and chili. The bread bar is FANTASTIC. All of the food was delicious. I can't recall what my friend had but we both were very happy.
SERVICE: Very attentive, no complaints.
ATMOSPHERE: This is an adorable local spot. When people enter, the staff knows EVERYONE and asks how their family is doing. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4: as a person of mixed ethnicity (1/2 Southeast Asian and 1/2 English/Dutch; 100% American) two other patrons at the establishment gave me that look... the look of "Huh, Why is SHE here?" So, I was a bit uncomfortable due to the male who looked at me that way when we were waiting to be seated and the woman who looked at me that way when we were seated and eating and she was headed towards the bread/chili bar. -

A friendly yet old school food right out of the 50's ...fried everything... not worth the trip but not many choices in Meyersdale

This place is tucked out of the way, but the food is great and there's plenty of it. Nice selection of home-baked breads, including a brown pumpernickel, with real butter and cheeses along with 2 soups....the bread n' soup bar is all-you-can-eat and comes with most entrees. Been there 3 times so far, once for their famous wings (the wing menu offers up selections based on presidents and quite witty), and the crabcakes are excellent.....the seafood platter is a good choice also. If you don't arrive early (we did and thought the place was a ghost town at first), it will fill up fast!
